Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This rare “Tree Aloe” forms a 5’ wide rosette perched atop an unbranched trunk that can reach about 10’ tall. Downward arching, elongated, ever-grey-green succulent leaves are edged in white serrated “teeth”. In cool weather, the foliage turns a showy pink, which is especially pretty when paired with the brilliant red flowers that emerge in mid-Winter. Held on the tips of multi-branching flower spikes, they’re much loved by bees and hummers. The seed for this selection was gathered from a colony growing in the high elevations of Southern Madagascar and sports greater tolerance to cold and the occasional short freeze. Deer resistant and extremely drought tolerant once established. Along the coast it needs little to no additional Summer water, but grows fastest with the occasional sip.
