Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Paeonia 'Bartzella' has warm butter yellow flowers with orange-red centres. Itoh peonies are intersectional hybrids between tree peonies (P. suffruticosa) and garden peonies (P. lactiflora) making outstanding herbaceous perennials with huge flowers in many unusual colours. A mature plant can have over 50 blooms! The foliage is like a tree peony and emerges rich red, gradually turning green.
Double bright yellow flowers 5-6" in size, spring. Cross of tree and herbaceous peony. Zones 4-8.
'Bartzella’ is an intersectional peony (hybrid of herbaceous and tree forms) boasting large (to 9”) semi double to double yellow blossoms with just a hint of red at the base of some of the petals. Flowers emit a spicy scent and are borne on sturdy stems that do their best to support such humungous bounty. Another big plus is the foliage looks incredible all summer. Eventual height and spread should be about 3’. Plants appreciate a well drained neutral soil in full sun to partial shade (in warmer climates). Care should be taken when planting the roots that the eyes should be pointing upwards and not more than an inch below the soil surface (including mulch). Huge multi eye divisions.
An interspecific hybrid between tree peonies and herbaceous peonies. The flowers are the color, size and form of the tree peonies but there isn't a trunk or branches. In spring the growth quickly expands and large buds form. The buds will open to large bright yellow flowers. This plant is an easy grower.
