Rose of Sharon is a wonderful reblooming shrub that is quick to establish and flowers profusely through the entire summer. They bloom on new wood so they will flower even after heavy pruning the winter before and so plants can be kept as small as 3' tall, pruned into a small tree form, or left as a multi-stem shrub. The leaves are dark green and slightly serrated like most members of the Mallow family.
'Summer Snowflake' produces pure white blooms that look like white roses when they first start opening before the petals pull back into a saucer form. Each flower lasts for only a day or two before the petals drop and a new flower blooms in its place. Because the petals drop before they dry up these plants never need to be dead headed to continue looking their best.
