    It's hard to decide what to like best about this plant. Is it the on-trend culinary usefulness of growing ramps? Or is it the fat leaves that emerge in spring that look more like an ornamental than a culinary plant? Or the firecrackers of the umbrels of white flowers?     Allium tricoccum is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with green foliage. In summer white flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with bright shade - shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average, gritty, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something humidity tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

    One of the most interesting native plants in these mountains, "Ramps" as they are known locally are a wonderful medicinal plant. They are a known blood purifier and once you have put them on a pizza, you'll be hard pressed to enjoy pizza sans "Ramps" again. Very sexy lily-like foliage in the early Spring, gives way to white silver dollar sized flowers that set umbels of shiny black seeds when pollinated. Very easy to grow in the wild shade garden.
