Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This union between two west coast natives, A garden hybrid of the dwarfy California G. buxifolia (mom) and a nearby G. eliptica (dad). Seedlings have shown smaller rounded and silvery-backed leaves of the former and a faster growth rate (and presumably, larger ultimate size) of the latter. These represent our first crop from seed so ultimate size is estimated 6-8ft. with 5-6ft. spread.Pleasing deep green leaves and dangling tassel flowers mid to late winter. Sun to part shade with occasional summer water to establish, drought tolerant thereafter. Cold hardy to 10º USDA zone 8.
