Viola hastata is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with blue, green and variegated foliage. In spring yellow flowers emerge. Attracts bees and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with bright shade - shade and even moisture - occasional water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil.

Viola hastata is an eastern US native violet with cheerful bright yellow flowers with thin, purple-black brush strokes near the throat. The distinctive leaves have heart-shaped bases elongating into a spear-like point. They are beautifully silver-mottled with each plant offering slightly different patterns. This is a violet with a difference. It is also said to be easy to grow and well-behaved and won't spread around the garden.
