Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Trillium grandiflorum 'Snowbunting' is a spectacular, very rare, fully double form of the eastern North American snow trillium which resembles a delicate white rose or camellia sitting on top of the tripartite foliage. Stunning! It is recognized as being different than 'Flore Pleno' by the RHS in having creamy white rather than pure white flowers. Double flowered forms of trilliums, since they don't have any reproductive structures and thus don't get pollinated, often bloom for a longer period than regular trilliums. Trillium are exquisite plants for the shade garden blooming in early to mid spring with their elegant flowers. They are spring ephemerals that may go dormant by summer. Keep in mind that they may go dormant early in the year they are first planted and could sulk a bit in their second year before settling in for beautiful displays for years to come.
