Lagerstoemia Barista 'Cool Beans' has dark olive green leaves with rosy red edges. In late summer this small shrub bursts forth with cool salmon pink flowers from rosy red buds on dark rosy red stems which makes a bold foliage and flower contrast. The Barista Collection of crape myrtles are hardy cultivars to zone 6. Where they have been tested in Michigan they die back to the ground in winter and bloom on new wood in late summer. On the west coast they will not die back but they will need to be planted in a hot spot to bring them into flower.
