    Hyacinthoides x massartiana 'Bakkum Blue' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with green foliage. In spring blue and lavender flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - dappled shade and regular - occasional water. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in average and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

    The fabled common or English bluebell is much beloved in the UK for forming carpets of blue in "bluebell woods" across the country. It differs from the more commonly-grown Spanish bluebell (H. hispanica) by having an arching rather than upright stem, darker blue flowers with more recurved petal tips, and a beautiful fragrance. 'Bakkum Blue' is a vivid dark blue form sometimes with purple highlights. H. hispanica and H. non-scripta readily hybridize so if you have both in your garden, don't allow them to set seed unless you want the hybrids.
