Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Sweet little evergreen subshrub, 6" tall, creeping out out to 2' wide. Foliage is glossy and dark green with a minty fragrance when crushed. Small, white urn shaped summer flowers give way to bright WHITE, edible berries in winter. Nice holiday décor. Part to full shade, moist soil with decent drainage (not soggy). Woodland ground cover, pots, rock garden.
Gaultheria procumbens 'Peppermint Pearl' has polished evergreen foliage of deep, verdant green. Delicate, bell-like flowers bloom in early summer and persistent, large, white berries (instead of the usual red) appear in fall as much of the garden prepares for winter sleep. The berries are edible. A compact selection 6" tall and 12" wide, it prefers acidic soil and partial shade. Trim in April to shape and prune out dead wood.
