Forming a 1" tall deep green succulent (evergreen) mat, this hardy ice-plant is covered with Magenta (notice the capital M!) flowers all summer; a very nice drought-tolerant groundcover. S/M-D/GDr PPAF
Zn 6. Bright magenta-red flowers. Evergreen.
Delosperma ashtonii 'Blut' produces masses of the most intense, glowing, magenta flowers with white centres over a long period in the summer atop flattened, dense, succulent foliage. Very low-growing to about two inches. Ice plants are long-blooming and carefree succulent mat-forming perennials similar to sedums that thrive in heat, drought and nearly any well-drained soil. Very hardy but should be protected from winter wet either with very well drained soil or in the rainshadow of a house or other structure. Great in containers.
