Hydrangea quercifolia 'Queen of Hearts' offers a profusion of exceptionally large white flower clusters that emerge in summer against dark green, deeply lobed oak like leaves. Blossoms age through pink to dark pink, remaining upright even after heavy rains. Foliage turns a brilliant mahogany in fall. Its compact form is well suited for small landscapes. Ideal used in mass plantings, hedges and mixed borders or in large containers.

This royal hybrid of 'Snow Queen' x 'Pee Wee' forms a dense rounded shrub to 6' tall with a wider spread up to 9'. It is distinguished for its hefty, vertical, conical flower panicles (to 9" long) which open white but gradually mature to a striking deep rose-pink. This cultivar blooms one to two weeks later than most Oakleaf Hydrangea cultivars, extending the bloom season! Large, distinct, oak-like leaves are deep-green before turning rich shades of wine-red in autumn. Cinnamon colored exfoliating bark is revealed after leaf-drop for striking winter interest. This fabulous Hydrangea was hybridized by the U.S. National Arboretum in 1998 and introduced into commerce by the Arboretum in 2013. S/PSh-M

Fuller blooming Oakleaf introduction from the National Arboretum. I was honored to test this wonderful variety this is a hybrid of Snow Queen and Pee Wee. Large bloom heads start white and blush to pink. Great big leaves adorn the plant as well. Quite a beautiful plant that will love to be part of your garden.
