Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A wonderful addition to the late summer/early autumn garden, this hybrid cross of lettermanii and an unknown species, discovered by Brent Horvath of Intrinsic Perennials, differs from lettermanii by being taller (grows to 3-4' h/w’) and having slightly wider foliage. In September, 'Southern Cross' bursts into bloom with clusters of purple Aster like flowers. Handsome foliage all season, deer resistant, and favored by butterflies. A must for natural looking gardens. Associates well with ornamental grasses and is adaptable to a wide variety of soils.
