Astrantia major 'Masterpiece' has beautifully variegated foliage of bluish green with lime green centres. In early summer it is topped by masses of light pink flowers. An excellent cultivar for both flower and folial interest. Masterworts bloom for months on end and are incredibly valuable for a range of light conditions from part shade to full sun. The detailing in their pincushion-like flowers with their subtending involucral bracts is intricate and beautiful. Pollinator attractor, especially bees and butterflies. Deer and rabbit resistant.
Foliage plays a big role here….this selection of Masterwort has handsome green leaves with chartreuse central markings. Soft pink/white flowers are born on 18-24” stems bloom in June and July, and are long lasting cut. Give Astrantia a soil with good drainage and even moisture during the growing season. Deer resistant, and lovely for cutting.
