This ‘Little Angel’ is a pint sized 4" high and eventually 12" wide; dense, ferny foliage is edged with white and doesn’t revert. Stems and leaves often have a hit of red. Jewel toned burgundy globe flowers in summer show well above the leaves, good bee plant! Like most Burnets, enjoys moist soil, though this one will take some dryness once established; sun. Thrives in pots, rock gardens, front of border, top of the wall.
Zn 4. Green and white foliage with red flowers.
Sanguisorba minor 'Little Angel' is a cute, dwarf burnet with masses of compact reddish flower heads from pink buds that sway in the air atop blue-green foliage with white edges. A form of the British native salad burnet, the edible leaves, best when young, lend a slightly nutty or cucumber flavour to salads, their serrated edges another layer of texture and interest.
For the front of a border, or rockery, this little late summer blooming Burnet has white edged foliage and 12" stems bearing rosy red catkin like flowers which attract pollinators and butterflies. Flowers remain attractive as they age, taking on deep wine tones. It likes a soil that is not too dry and spreads a bit though not as vigorous as the species.
