Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Historic garden plant with succulent foliage. Features rosettes of pink succulent leaves with green centers. Leaves are covered in fine cilia which give it a fuzzy feel and silvery sheen. Hens & Chicks grow best in well-drained, gravelly soil that is not wet in winter. Drought tolerant. Requires little water once established. Great in containers and rock gardens.
Chick Charms Silver Suede forms large, velvety rosettes in shades of red, green, and mauve overlain with a silver sheen which intensifies in the heat of the summer. The dangerously collectible Chick Charms series offers the boldest coloured and best-growing hen and chicks available. Sempervivum are super hardy requiring only full sun and excellent, sharp drainage, especially in coastal BC. Grow them as an edger for pathways or borders or in pots.
Hardy 'Silver Suede' is covered all over with a fine peach fuzz, giving them a matte texture and hazy blue-green hue. A gardener's friend, hardy succulents look great with little care. Tuck them into super well-drained soils in sun, with just a bit of afternoon shade to keep them from baking and they will soon send out little chicks to root and increase your collection.
