An improved black-eyed Susan, 'American Gold Rush' performs remarkably in trials against other cultivars. It has masses of long-lasting, rich yellow blooms sporting bold dark cones on well-formed, compact clumps that are slightly smaller than 'Goldsturm'. Highly resistant to Septoria leaf spot due to its thinner and hairier leaves! With an upright habit of up to 26 inches and a spread of 40-44 inches, this Rudbeckia fulgida is sure to become a centrepiece in the late summer garden. Great for patio containers, cottage and wild gardens. Mass plant for a spectacular effect. Attracts pollinators and songbirds. Possibly hardy to zone 3.
PPAF. Star of the summer garden 'American Gold Rush' is far superior to any other Black-eyed Susan out there, for it has beautiful disease-free foliage and scads of golden daisies from July to September. A hybrid of a native coneflower it is bee, butterfly, and bird friendly!
