Epimedium aff. zhushanense is a broadleaf evergreen perennial groundcover with green foliage. In spring lavender, purple and white flowers emerge. Grows well with bright shade - shade and even moisture - occasional water. Drought tolerant once established. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in acidic, average, clay, rich, rocky and well-drained soil.

Nursery contributed plant descriptions

We received this one form Norm and Debbie of Arbutus Gardens. The plant tag said: "Miss-identified in a collection of Epimedium zhushanense from China, this may be either a new species or a naturally occurring hybrid". Norm tells me that It has grown well in the ground, with durable evergreen foliage and attractive large flowers. In comparison with "true" zhushanense, the flowers are very near identical (though a shade lighter purple), as is the foliage, but the plant produces fairly long rhizomes where the "true" is strongly clumping. In Norm's experience this selection seems to be not as winter hardy for cold climates, so we put it in zone 6.
