Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Exotic perennial that sends up a 30” stem in late spring/early summer topped by a parasol-like leaf composed of twelve smaller leaflets marked with silver (seed grown so variable) with drooping thin tips. Hooded spathe flowers of purple and white striping follow, culminating in a long, downward arching thin tip over the opening. Especially stunning in a pot where they can be viewed close up & personal or in grouping in the woodland. Rich, moist, well-drained soil, light shade. Red orange seed pods follow flowers.
Shared with us some years ago by our friends the O’Byrnes, these graceful jack-in-the-pulpits rise to nearly 3 ft in late spring with narrow graceful leaflets centered indeed silver. Flowers are deep cinnamon. Adds to its beauty by clumping quickly. Dappled shade is best with consistent summer moisture and, of course, decent drainage. A wonderful addition to the woodland garden or container. Frost hardy in the ground to 0 °F, USDA zone 7 or below.
