Yunnan Pine is an endangered conifer native to a limited range in Yunnan Province, China with dense, light green foliage. This species is rare in cultivation but has quickly become one of our favorite pine species because of its softer needles that tend to droop, giving the tree a feathery appearance. The needles grow 10 inches or longer on mature trees and have a lighter underside that makes the whole tree shimmer slightly in a light breeze. Unlike a lot of other pine species which tend to grow tall and sparse when young, the Yunnan Pine develops dense branching from an early age and forms a beautiful specimen even as a 2-3 year old seedling.
