Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The Oriental Lily produces tall flowering trunks in early summer with large 6' wide flowers at the top. The flower color varies by plant but most offer tones of pink, lavender, red, and white with burning red anthers in the front. The flowers are amazingly fragrant, in fact customers often smell these from the other side of the nursery and start trying to find the source of the sweet aroma using their nose.

Growing Oriental Lilies is easy, plant the bulbs about 6 inches deep and water during the growing season. By late summer the plants go dormant and will not need to be watered anymore. Growth is usually best in well drained soil and adding a slow release fertilizer like Osmocote increases plant size and the number of flowers.

These plants grow quite tall, up to 4', and are stable in protected areas. However, if you are growing these where they will be exposed to wind, heavy rain, or storms adding a bamboo rail on all sides helps to keep the plants upright.

Size Guide
