Nursery contributed plant descriptions

'Stand By Me' is a non-twining bush Clematis, not a vine, with beautiful, blue, bell-shaped flowers in early summer reblooming in late summer. The flowers are followed by creamy white, thread-like seed heads. The foliage is also attractive with a bronze shade to the undersides of new foliage. Unlike other clematis, this one is completely herbaceous and dies back to the ground in fall. Use stakes, obelisks or other plants to provide gentle support to keep plants upright or allow them to sprawl into their neighbours. Pollinator attractor. Deer and rabbit resistant.

Brand spankin' NEW Clematis from Proven Winners! A perennial (not a vine) that sends up stems 3’ tall that are covered with blue dangling bells May July. The petals curve up like little elves shoes! Flowers are followed by silvery, feather like seedheads that catch the sunlight. Stems are somewhat lax and appreciate something to lean on…a plant friend or a cage; a great filler! Average garden soil with regular moisture in full sun to light shade.

Clematis Stand By Me is a new selection of Clematis integrifolia. It has performed beautifully in trials and won University of Georgia Plants of Distinction in 2017! It has profuse bloom in May and June with nice repeat. Best of all, this selection has a sturdier, more upright habit than others and may not need staking.
