Nursery contributed plant descriptions

While peonies have been a welcome element in American landscapes for more than 150 years, varieties with peach and coral blooms are relatively new, having arrived on the scene in the 1960s. Coral Charm was one of the first, a semi double flower with an antique rose form, that opens a rich coral apricot and matures to a soft luminescent peach. These peonies are tall plants, very vigorous and are excellent for cutting. Why Grow Peonies? Peonies are often referred to as Queen of the Flowers because of their lush beauty and rich fragrance An individual peony plant can live more than 50 years - talk about a modest investment returning long term benefits! Once settled in, peonies require very little care, they almost care for themselves Peonies produce outstanding cut flowers Deer, rabbits and rodents tend to ignore peonies You'll find a number of peonies here that have been awarded the Gold Medal by the American Peony Society, the national organization that knows peonies best. This award is bestowed upon one cultivar annually, a variety that demonstrates dependable performance across a wide range of growing sites, good plant habit (stem strength, fullness and attractive foliage throughout the season) and, of course, flower beauty. Coral Charm is an American Peony Society Gold Medal Winner. This peony is also an American Peony Society Grand Champion, signifying that it has won the national Best in Show exhibition award. Impressive.
