If you've graduated from infatuation with the dinnerplate dahlias to also loving the smaller ball form varieties, add Wizard of Oz to your list. This pretty pompon variety is decidedly pink (not the washed out shade often seen in online shots) with a deeper hued center. The flowers are 2-3" across, ideal for arrangements, and are carried on dark purple stems. We like this variety planted in groups of 3 for greatest garden impact. Cut flowers when they are about a third open for longest vase life. Why Grow Medium Garden Dahlias? Few flowers offer the color and form diversity of dahlias This dahlia is an excellent cut flower, producing armloads of blooms Cornel has long flower stems and holds well, perfect for cutting Dahlia tubers can be saved, divided and shared.
