Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Glencoe' is a wonderful tasting Raspberry variety which is truly thornless. A lot of 'thornless' varieties out there really just mean fewer thorns, but with Glencoe you can run your fingers blindly through the clumps in search of berries without fear of getting pricked.
Raspberries form clumps through budding off of the roots and so will produce more and more berries each year. However, Glencoe spreads less than most varieties and tends to form a single clump and so is good for container production or growing in tight spaces.

Berries are produced on the two year old canes, so pruning the third year canes out each winter will result in higher fruit production. You can tip prune the new growth in mid summer to keep a compact bush at around 30 inches tall, or let the plant reach its full height of up to four to five feet. Staking the taller canes will increase yields.

Resistant to verticillium wilt. Self pollinating, so a single plant will produce fruit.
