Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Deep red flowers on upright and sturdy stems bloom in bunches. 'Tenor' Phlox is fantastic for cut flower arrangements and we use it to provide a deep red in bouquets. Add this to a sunny raised bed for continued color throughout the growing season, starting in April when the new growth features bright red leaves and stems. By mid June or early July the entire clump will be covered in deep red flower clumps. Very popular with hummingbirds, honey bees, and butterflies. Forms tidy clumps and needs very little care. Water during hot dry spells during the summer for best flowering, but will survive and flower modestly in drought conditions.
Propagation
Propagate Tenor Phlox from softwood cuttings during the summer or from clump division in spring just as the leaves are starting to emerge.
