Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Extremely floriferous, blooming several times in the year for us, with yellow/red flowers held well above the foliage. This coupled with evergreen foliage that's mottled during the main bloom season in spring and an above average drought tolerance makes this clumping selection first-class. For re-bloom, continuous moisture is contributive. This selection looks like the handiwork of an skilled hybridizer, but it's not - it's "just" the species, or a version of it. It came to us by Norm of Arbutus Garden Art, who received it from Darrell Probst, who collected seed in China with Dan Hinkley around 1998/1999. According to Norm, "Darrell took many years to satisfy himself that he'd sorted out the "true" wushanense from "Carmel" and other plants called wushanense offered in the UK which had come from Mikinori Ogisu, and that the plants he and Dan had collected were of correct taxonomy."
