Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Hippeastrum 'Minerva' is bold and bright with orange flowers with green and white star-shaped centres all overlain with red lines. Grow in a sunny location (usually in a pot) outside in summer. Fertilize well. Allow autumn frosts to hit the foliage then bring inside, chop off the leaves and allow to dry out in the dark. Give light and water when a bud or new foliage appears. Will bloom indoors in January and February. This Jumbo Size bulb will have 2-3 flowering stems.
Not rare (you'll find sorry little half-sprouted boxed bulbs at retail centers) but absolutely worth adding to your must-grow list. Minerva was the Roman goddess of wisdom, art and medicine - no slouch then and certainly not now. Vibrant colors and intricate vein patterning, sturdy stems and big blooms, all at a great price. Find a place on the windowsill for Minerva. Our big, plump bulbs produce multiple stems, each with 4-6 flowers.
