Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Allium 'His Excellency' grows to 3-4 feet tall with large spheres about 5-6 inches across of tiny, star-like, violet-purple flowers. This uncommon cultivar blooms in late spring to early summer. Few plants can offer the unique flower forms of ornamental onions. Every garden should have Alliums. Plant in multiples of 3, 5, 7 or more. Don't fret when foliage starts to die back just before flowering. It's normal. Just trim the leaves.
Scouting for a large-flowered purple allium but trying to balance price? His Excellency is the answer. More widely available in Europe than here, this plants produces blooms that are 5-6" across, a bit smaller than those of Allium Giganteum, but at a price that'll please your budget.
