Hummingbird magnet! A stunning, perennial, subshrub from Uruguay, to 18-24" wide and tall, with slender, velvety, gray foliage on erect or arching stems, lovely by itself, AND all summer into autumn, hummingbird food, two-lipped, rusty-reddish-orange, tubular flowers in upright clusters. To see is to covet. Best in sun with summer water but tolerates some shade and occasional periods of drought. Cold hardy in USDA zones 7
Dicliptera suberecta, commonly known as Hummingbird Plant, is a woody perennial from Uruguay. Felty, velvety gray foliage sets off the clusters of tubular, orange-red flowers. Good in borders, containers and hanging baskets. Easy to grow in well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established.
Beautiful perennial from the wilds of Uruguay, an 18-24" tall shrubby mound to 2 1/2' wide cloaked in slightly fuzzy silver green leaves that area topped by 'drop dead red orange tubular flowers all summer thru fall. These blooms are irresistible to hummingbirds! This plant loves heat and drought, needs full sun...will tolerate moderate water as long as the soil is well drained. Gorgeous in a Mediterranean theme, in a raised bed, rock garden, a pretty pot or basket arrangement.
Dicliptera suberecta is native to Uruguay. Mounding grey hairy foliage with orange tubular flowers from July to October. Great for plantings outside in light shade or full sun and well drained soil. Hummingbirds love it. Heat and sun tolerant. Hardy to 15 degrees.
Clusters of 2" deep reddish orange upward facing tubular blooms are born from summer to fall, making this a choice plant for fall migrating Hummingbirds. The bright nectar rich flowers are held on sturdy stems above the beautiful bluish gray velvety foliage on this tough little heat and sun loving perennial. Typically freezes to the ground in winter but readily returns in spring. Drought tolerant once well established and does best in well drained soils.
Perhap's more familarly known as "King's Crown", it boasts attractive furry foliage and stiff stems bearing tubular coral-red flowers (Hummingbird Plant!). We think violet blue salvias are a striking compliment.
Fuzzy greenish gray leaves are great for hot dry situations. Deep burnt orange flowers in late summer are havens for butterflies, hummingbirds, moths, bees. NOT deer proof, but easy and maintenance free.

Wow. Wow. Wow. This is one suave “must-have” and super rewarding Summer and Fall bloomer! A strong undemanding and reliable perennial to 2’ tall and 3’ across with refined silvery bluish-grey leaves and stems that make it a lovely textural and foliar addition to your garden even before the show begins. Starting in mid-Summer and lasting thru Fall, multitudinous long-lasting rich coral tubular flower clusters burst out all over, tempting hummers from near and far. Thrives in heat and humidity and does just as well here in our foggy zone. Go figure. Dormant in Winter but returns with added vigor!
