Nursery contributed plant descriptions

From interior regions of South Africa, Stomatium (so-named because the fleshy leaves are covered with tiny bumps) are summer-flowering on the cutest, nubbiest dry garden plant you have ever seen. They don't look capable of bursting into yellow starburst blooms that excite and delight and then close at night, but they certainly do. They'll happily tolerate cold or heat, and soil sandy to heavy. More sun = more purplish tint on the nubbins (leaves). Dry is best, so under an eave or next to a protecting rock would be the ticket. Minimum temperature: -10 °F
