Lovely medium sized evergreen Polypody Fern with narrow, deeply cut, erect fronds to18” are crested. Slow creeping rhizomes expand to about a 2’ wide clump, fall grower. Lovely in the woodland, rich in the rock garden and cool in containers! Easy, at its best in fall/winter. Enjoys moist organic soil, part shade to shade but tolerant of dry shade.
Polypodium vulgare ‘Bifido Multifidum’, or Polypody Fern, displays narrow, erect fronds that are deeply cut and taper to a point. New fronds are produced from a slowly creeping rhizome in early summer. Evergreen.
This 12" tall, semi-evergreen epiphytic fern is dark green with upright leathery fronds that are the crested form of the native polypody, i.e. fronds are bifurcated at the tips. It's a fall grower and summer sleeper looking its very best in winter. Make your fern garden healthy looking year round. Dry shade is okay for this one - it's used to fending for itself.
