Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Matelea cyclophylla is a rare deciduous Mexican vining caudiciform in the asclepiad grouping. Forms a nice little caudex covered in corky tubercles, resembling Dioscorea elephantipes but with lighter colored bark and more narrow corking. The vines are covered in heart shaped, large green leaves. The half inch flowers are furry, star shaped, burgundy with a bit of yellow, and have a carrion odor like most stapeliads (asclepiads).
