Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Also called the Texas Olive, this rare native makes a beautiful small specimen tree perfect for the hottest toughest sunniest areas so long as the soil is well-drained. The Anacahuita produces large clusters of 2", crepe-like, white funnel shaped flowers with a dark gold yellow throat in spring and early summer as well as again in fall. The large olive-like fruit ripens to white before falling from the tree. The ripe fruit may be too much for some situations but it is relished by birds and other wildlife but are known to make the animals dizzy when eaten in any quantity. Extremely adaptable to soil types. Excellent drought resistance, moderately salt tolerant, and is an excellent small tree for the yard yet is durable enough for a parking lot. Evergreen in it's native range but is considered deciduous north of that. There are some beautiful specimens at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas.
Train into tree form if desired. Full Sun. White. Outdoor.
