Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Allium 'Miami' forms tall, 2-3 foot stems topped with half orbs of rich purple, star shaped flowers. The flowers are loosely arranged in 3-4 inch heads, offering dynamic and striking structural appeal. Few plants can offer the unique flower forms of ornamental onions with spring and early summer flowers, attractive summer seed heads that dry to give winter interest. Every garden should have Alliums. Plant in groups, with multiples of 3, 5, 7 or more for the strongest impact.
Long-lasting reddish-purple umbels bloom on stems 2–3' tall in late spring. Flowers form an oval dome rather than a round ball to make them the more interesting. They prefer to be moist in the winter and dry in the summer.
