Coming from the Cape of South Africa, this gorgeous wee plant is tough, growing in inhospitable areas like rocky ground and exposed slopes. Three narrow outer petals (tepals), fleshy with a bit of diamond dust, are held horizontally, and the inner three are pursed (meet at the tips) with yellow lips. All petals are interestingly striped white and green! Anise fragrance!
