The Cherokee Brave Dogwood is one of the most popular of the American dogwoods, offering beauty for all seasons. Large red blooms with a white eye appear even before the foliage, remaining for weeks. The spring foliage has burgundy overtones, turning entirely green for summer, then brilliant maroon colors in fall. Ornamental red fruits last into the winter.  Cherokee Brave Dogwood is a superior performing dogwood offering a high degree of disease and pest resistance. Due to state restrictions, we cannot ship this item to Florida.
Cherokee Brave Pink Flowering Dogwood, also called Comco #1, has deep pink or sometimes even fully red flowers in mid to late spring. Cherokee Brave is a late flowering variety and is very useful in extending your dogwood flowering season. Because it is easy to grow. has very deep colored flowers, and is a disease resistant variety, Cherokee Brave has become quite popular in recent years and is on most growers top ten lists. Like other Florida dogwoods, this plant will appreciate summer irrigation and will do best if mulched when planted. Other than that, it is a very easy plant to grow and is very rewarding. We recommend pruning the lower branches to about five or six feet as the tree matures and planting spring flowering bulbs and a few summer flowering perennials in a large bed around your Cherokee Brave Dogwood to create a stunning landscape focal point. Unlike the Cornus kousa types, Cherokee Brave will bloom before the leaves emerge and because it blooms so prolifically it will appear like the gorgeous red flowers are actually the leaves. After the flowers fade, the new leaves will emerge with reddish hues and will again turn bright red in the fall for a third display of color. All around this is a fantastic plant and is one of the most desired dogwood varieties in the nursery trade.
Deciduous, vigorous, fast growing tree with reddish-pink bracts, first appearing in May. Foliage is green, with dark red fall color. This cultivar is resistant to mildew. Growth Rate fast, 12"+ annually
Late-flowering form, essentially disease free. Deep pink to red flowers on this dogwood that makes most growers' top ten list.
Deep Pink bracts in spring with white center, red fruits, red-purple fall color USDA zones 5-9.
