Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Fabulous cross between S. guaranitica x S. gesnerifolia that captured the best of both species! Fast growing to 3-5’tall and wide (can get bigger in coastal areas), fragrant foliage on upright stems topped with terminal spikes of huge violet purple flowers...hummer landing pads! With a little deadheading, this baby will go from spring to fall freeze. Prefers well drained soil and sun (like most Salvia), needs at least semi-regular water. Also performs well in a large pot.
Zn 8 Large plant with dark purple and black blooms
This great Salvia is a summer workhorse, blooming from early July until frost with deep purple flowers on dark, tinted stems with contrasting dark bracts. Plants grow to about 3’ tall and wide the first year, but where it is perennial it can grow to 4-5’ tall and wide. Loves sun, but can take a little shade. Beloved by hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
This new Friendship Sage has traveled from its discovered home in Argentina to England and then the US, loved by all for its early and free flowering nature and its compact bushy habit. Decorative shiny black calyxes hold radiant purple trusses of bloom. Hummingbirds just won't leave it alone!
