Valiant is extremely winter hardy and produces small, compact clusters of small berries that ripen reliably. It is used for juice and jelly where other varieties are not hardy enough to be grown. Flavor is similar to Concord. Developed by South Dakota State University, bred especially for Northern growers. May produce grapes the first year after planting. Rich, tangy flavor. Ripens late August to mid September. Zones 3-8. Top Wire Trellis system recommended.
