A small tree or shrub of graceful habit, reaching 15-25' and producing masses of fragrant (not-pleasantly) pure-white flowers followed by 1" red-skinned, yellow-fleshed wild plums which are very desirable for preserve; pretty yellow-red fall color; native to the central and southern United States usually found growing in rocky, sandy soils in woodlands, pastures and hedgerows; makes a wonderful screen . S/M-D
Zones 3-8, neutral to acid soil, sun to partial shade, widely adaptable Covered with yellow-red fruit in late summer! These make delicious jams, prunes, syrups, butters, wines, and more. The tart skin and sweet flesh flavor is a cross between a cherry and a plum. Very productive and fast growing. Order at least two plants for pollination. Grows to 8-10 ft. tall. 2-3 ft. trees.
