Chester Thornless Blackberry is a fast-growing broadleaf deciduous fruit / vegetable, shrub or vine with green foliage. In spring and summer white flowers emerge followed by black and purple fruit. Features fuzzy texture. Attracts bees and birds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and regular water. Does well in acidic, rich and well-drained soil.

Chester' is a thornless blackberry variety which produces large quantities of firm fruit late in the season. 'Chester' is a true thornless variety with absolutely no sharp or pokey points. It is also one of the latest producing of all the thornless blackberries and is a fantastic season extender.
When growing blackberries, give them good soil and plenty of sun for the best production. They will form dense clumps with new canes emerging each year from the roots. Blackberries are produced in the second year while the first year is spent generating most of the new growth.
Blackberries grow fast!!! 'Chester' is a semi-erect, thornless blackberry. 'Chester' has a wide range of adaptability in the United States 'Chester' reportedly produces a high yield. Berry size is medium to large 5 g berry and flavor is mild. Ripening date is July.
