We are thrilled to be able to offer a few of these maples this year. We first saw several plants at Talon Bucholz's nursery. This lush deep purple foliaged maple has leaves that look like star fish with the margins crimped. Truly beautiful and exciting.

Peve Starfish Japanese Maple gets its name from the downward rolled leaves that give the appearance of a starfish. This genuinely unique Japanese maple will add a texture to your garden like no other. Peve Starfish Japanese Maple leafs out in spring, with bright red leaves maturing to a maroon color as the weather warms. In the fall, expect the stunning color to return with shades of bright red. This is one of our favorites.

A stocky, upright Japanese maple originating from Vergeldt Nursery in Holland, with unique downward curving leaf lobes, which gives them the appearance of starfish. In spring the new leaves emerge a brilliant red, slowly maturing to burgundy, and finish in the fall an eye-catching crimson. This mid-sized dwarf is nicely suited for adding color and texture without demanding much space, reaching 6-8 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide in 20 years.

Small, purplish-green reticulated leaves have very symmetrical lobes on each leaf, giving the appearance of a starfish. A new introduction from the Netherlands.

A new selection from Vergeldt Nursery in Holland, 'Peve Starfish' is my new favorite maple! Burgundy leaves turn downward giving it a "starfish" appearance. Fall color is crimson-red. This cute tree will grow to 8 feet in ten years.
