Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Developed and named for Arnold Arboretum?s centennial, this fine vigorous 15-20' Magnolia has 3-4" flowers formed by 30+ strap-shaped ?petals? of white flushed with pink. S-PSh/M
White Star Magnolia is an easily-grown medium size Magnolia variety with profusions of white star shaped flowers in early spring. The flowers appear before leaves and give the whole tree a snow-tipped appearance. The foliage is very dense and trees produce dense, low branching which allows this variety to be used for summer privacy hedges. Like other Magnolias, 'Centennial' does best when planted in well drained soil and is irrigated every other week through the summer.
Described as an improved 'Waterlily', 'Centennial' features almost double flowers with 28-32 petals that are white with a faint hint of pink. Named in honor of the Arnold Arboretum's 100th Anniversary.
