Nursery contributed plant descriptions

One of the very few plant that we would recommend for a darker room. Thick, waxy. eliptic leaves on upright (that resembles a cycad) stem that can extend to close to 4'. Potato-like tubers form under the soil line with thick roots. Slowly expands outward.
Zamioculcas zamiifolia, commonly called ZZ Plant, is an interesting, large houseplant displaying shiny, dark green, thick leathery leaflets on arching stems that resemble Cycad foliage. This is a slow grower. ZZ Plant grows best in well-drained soil that dries between waterings and indirect light. Feed once a year with a slow-release fertilizer. Creates a dramatic accent in larger planters. Easy and low maintenance. Protect from frost!
"Houseplant of the Year" . The ZZ plant is ideal for low light conditions where few other plants thrive. The dark green, shiny, alternate leaves grow on stout, fleshy stalks that are swollen at the base. Growing from an underground rhizome that stores water, the ZZ Plant is extremely tolerant to drought and low light conditions. This indestructible houseplant has an almost prehistoric appearance! It's an excellent container plant for interiorscapes and was named 'Houseplant of the Year" for its ease of growing and unusual beauty.
