Magnolia sieboldii is a broadleaf deciduous shrub with green foliage. In spring and summer red and white flowers emerge followed by pink fruit. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in acidic, average, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant, humidity tolerant and wind tolerant.

We have a good supply again. We have had M. sieboldii every year since 1968 except last year. One of the best of all magnolias. M. sieboldii is a 15'-20' shrubby tree with hundreds of white buds turning into pendulas. White flowers with maroon stamens. Fragrant and will bloom here form May1 to August 10.

Superb understory Magnolia that performs best beneath larger trees in a lightly shaded woodland, but will also thrive  in full sun as as long as it doesn’t get reflected heat and has some protection from wind. Very showy flowers May>June are white with brilliant red stamens and a lovely fragrance!  Fall fruits are red and showy too!  Moderate growth 10-15’.  Average soil with regular moisture during hot, dry weather. This spreading, deciduous shrub has slightly nodding flowers with rich rose red stamens. The bowl shaped blossoms are 4" wide. The fragrant flowers are produced late spring until late summer. The Oyama Magnolia from Japan with four inch wide pure white, bowl-shaped, downward-facing flowers with red stamens. The fragrant flowers are produced from late spring to late summer. Light grey bark and dark green leaves. Golden yellow foliage in autumn and incredible pendulous, orange seedheads splitting open to reveal rows of deep purple seeds! Perfect for smaller scale landscapes. This is an understorey tree so it will do well in shaded gardens. In stock when we can find it.
This species is prized for its small stature and remarkably beautiful flowers. The fragrant, nodding white blooms are accented by red stamens. Since this is a small tree, close inspection of the flowers is easy - a true delight! Although most references list it as zones 6-8, it has proved hardy at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, growing successfully in a windy zone 4.
