Named for the lack of spines along the leaves, this cross between D. encholirioides x D. brevifolia is a terrestrial bromeliad with sharp-tipped, shiny green, strap-like leaves arranged in rosettes to 1' tall and 2' wide. Forms colonies rather quickly. In spring, bright orange flowers appear on tall stems. Part sun to bright shade is best with moderate water. Frost hardy to 20 °F, USDA zone 9.
