Nursery contributed plant descriptions

From an intriguing population near Orleans, California on the Klamath River, growing on bits and pieces of serpentine stone. These mounding plants, from 4-6' or a bit more to 8' in very old specimens, have a very dense habit, lustrous, green leaves to only about 1/2" and white-aging-pale-pink flowers with characteristics of both A. hispidula and A. stanfordiana. Either way, these should be wonderful shrubs for the dry garden. Can be shorn to maintain a smaller size or lifted to expose the pealing, orange-red bark. A bit more summer water tolerant than others as well. Sun to light shade in most soils. Likely frost hardy to 0 °F, USDA zone 7, possibly colder.
