Nursery contributed plant descriptions

From the wooded, rocky slopes and moist forests of the southeastern United States, this fern does not form clumps, instead spreading by rhizomes to form colonies six feet wide or more. Large, soft, pale-green fronds which are up to a foot wide and 3-4' tall are produced all summer long. The lush colonies make for some of the most gorgeous woodland plantings out there. Though these beautiful ferns can take sun, they really are at their best with at least partial shade. S-Sh/M
