    Citrumelo is a broadleaf deciduous, evergreen or semi-evergreen fruit / vegetable or shrub with green foliage. In spring cream and white flowers emerge followed by green, orange and yellow fruit. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and regular water. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

    For us, one of the most useful of the hardy evergreen citrus. This cross between Poncirus trifoliata and grapefruit has resulted in a small tree to 15' or so with fragrant spring flowers and grapefruit produced late season. Thick rind with an intense flavor of citrus oil. Needs a bit of sugar for juice. Great for patio or edging. Frost hardy to USDA zone 7. Full sun to half shade. Extra summer water helps fruit to set.

    A citrus tree for the north! This hybrid between Poncirus trifoliata the "Hardy Orange" and the Pummello grapefruit takes periods of subfreezing temperatures with ease. Its growth and form resembles the "Hardy Orange" with fruit that is smoothed skinned and rich orange in color. This Citrumelo came from an unheated greenhouse in Newport, RI. The fruit is sour,similar to grapefruit early in the season. It has a strong root system, which is highly resistant to root diseases. We use it as an understock in grafting.
