Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A compact form of Crassula ovata (Jade Plant) with spooned leaves (Similar to Gollum but more opened). Leaves are tinted with maroon margins. Leaves will have more orange hues with more stress from either light, heat, drought, cold. Clusters of mini star-shaped flowers appear in spring! This form can look mature at a younger age. One of the easier and forgiving houseplants; provide proper amount of light for success!
Tender. Quill like fleshy leaves on a single stem.
Not unlike heroic hobbit Frodo Baggins, this form of baby jade is a bit shorter and stouter than the others, and certainly a curiosity piece, producing compact, shiny, succulent leaves shaped a bit like miniature elephant trunks. Eventually to 3' tall and nearly as wide, forming a succulent trunk with age -- but takes many years to get there. Best as container specimen as they are only frost hardy into the upper 20's °F, upper USDA zone 9. Makes a good houseplant. Crassulaceae
Baby Jade 'Hobbit' has unusual tubular leaves with red edges and star-shaped pink flowers that emerge in fall. This upright, compact succulent will develop a thick trunk with age. It's a slow grower and will take years to reach its full height of 12-16" tall. Drought and heat tolerant, 'Hobbit' is a low maintenance plant and makes an unusual specimen for containers. Remember, succulents need the soil to dry out between waterings.
